Springer Spaniel

There are two types of Springer Spaniels: the English Springer Spaniel and the Welsh Springer Spaniel. But, what many of us don’t know is the fact that the English Springer Spaniel is the founder of all the Spaniel breeds. The Welsh Springer Spaniel and other similar breeds were developed during the 17th century to meet the high demands of hunting dogs. So, most of the time when we talk about the Springer Spaniel, we refer to the English Spaniel and not the Welsh Spaniel. The reason for that is pretty simple – both of the breeds have more or less the same personality traits, so it’s better to talk about the founder than the one that has been found!
